Q: What can you do for me?

A: Divorce is a daunting prospect. I can help you through it and provide you with clear advice so that you understand what lies ahead, and are able to start to plan for the future.

Having worked for a number of years at a top London firm before moving to Mills & Reeve, one of the leading family law teams nationally, I have experience of dealing with many different issues arising on divorce, whether they are of a complex financial nature or relate to children. I provide pragmatic and commercial advice, identifying what it is truly of concern to you.

Q: What makes you different from other divorce lawyers?

A: I see it as my job to guide people through what is undoubtedly a very difficult period. There are a number of ways in which people can deal with divorce and I help them to choose the one that is best for them, taking into account what is truly important to them.

I am an active member of Resolution (an association of family lawyers committed to the constructive resolution of family disputes) and am a trained collaborative lawyer. Collaborative law is a method of dispute resolution based on discussion, cooperation and understanding – an approach that I strongly support.

Q: What do your clients say about you?

A: “… Ed’s professional conduct, clarity of thought and excellent responsiveness … made [the divorce] process proceed without additional emotional stress … After such a positive experience, I would certainly recommend … Ed … to family, friends and colleagues.”

Q: What involvement do you have in the local Leeds community?

A: As a collaborative divorce lawyer, I am active both in Leeds and York, and sit on a committee covering the North of England tasked with raising the level of public awareness of the collaborative family law process, and of other ways of resolving family disputes which do not involve the court.

Q: What else should I know about you?

A: As a family man, I am committed to exploring ways of making the divorce process less of an ordeal for the people involved and for the family as a whole.

I have been asked to write a number of articles in recent years for professional journals and have provided commentary to the BBC.
