No, it is rare to have a final hearing to sort out finances.
However, many solicitors issue financial proceedings so that:
- they have a timetable that is enforced by the court;
- they have complete disclosure (especially in cases where it might not be supplied with good grace!); and
- where the issues are complex.
Other cases are dealt with by the collaborative law process. See approaches. In collaborative law, the couple contract NOT to go to court unless it is by agreement, to issue divorce proceedings or to get a financial order confirming what is agreed.
