Anne Robinson is divorcing

Anne Robinson, the acerbic host of BBC’s The weakest link, has made a statement revealing that she is to divorce her husband of 27 years.

Her husband, John Penrose, is a property developer by trade but has also acted as the star’s business manager and is credited with having had a significant role in pushing her career forward in recent years.

The marriage is believed to have faltered due to a fundamental difference in the way the couple choose to spend their free time, with John Penrose preferring life in the country while Anne Robinson would rather live in London and New York.

The couple say they will remain the best of friends and have come to an amicable settlement to divide their £60 million assets.
