Snooker ace’s wife threatens to serve divorce papers during World Championship – by Danielle Bennett

Former World Champion snooker player Shaun Murphy won his first round World Snooker Championship match against Andrew Higginson last week despite being distracted by his estranged wife Clare’s threat to serve him with divorce papers at The Crucible.

The Crucible management took the precaution of upping the security during the match, but Murphy’s game was uninterrupted by his wife of three years.

The snooker ace’s concerns were unnecessary given that under no circumstances can a Divorce Petition be properly served by a Petitioner.  Service normally takes place via the issuing court or, if they have requested that they will effect service themselves, via the Petitioner’s solicitors.
