When both civil partners have reached pension age each will be entitled to rely on the others NI contributions if the other was born after the 6 April 1950. Female civil partners will qualify from 2010 on. Male civil partners from 2015 on.
As with a divorce where a civil partnership has been dissolved or annulled a person will be entitled to rely on his former civil partners contributions to the date of dissolution.
