Divorce approaches

Options available during a divorce

What options are available for approaching a divorce?

Most divorces throw up a whole range of issues:

  • Who is going to start the divorce, and on what basis?
  • What is going to happen to the family home
  • Will maintenance have to be paid – and if so, how much and for how long?
  • Will our savings and pensions have to be divided equally?

You will find lots of information across this site, which deals with these questions in more detail.

But even before that – you will need to think about how you are going to sort these questions out.

  • Are you going to discuss these issues face-to-face?
  • Are you going to go to family mediation
  • Are you going to go through the collaborative law process?
  • Will you ask solicitors to negotiate for you?
  • Will you have to go to court to sort things out?

This section gives you more information about these different approaches. Which one is best for you?
