Amy Starnes

What can I help you with?

As a specialist children lawyer, I assist clients on a wide range of issues relating to the arrangements for children on separation. Many of my cases are international.

I have the skills and expertise to help clients facing disputes which have become intractable with highly-conflicted parents, issues of parental alienation, allegations of abuse and mental health issues.

Example(s) of some recent work

I have a particular interest and experience in international relocation cases and was successful in securing my client’s leave to remove application, which allowed my client to relocate abroad with her children.  I was also part of a team who successfully defended a leave to remove application on behalf of a father.

I advise clients on surrogacy, legal parentage and fertility law and have helped intended parents to be recognised as legal parents of their children born via surrogates.

I regularly help clients reach agreements about the arrangements for their children without the need for Court proceedings.

What do others say about me?

Clients have praised me for my "responsive and balanced approach" and "not over-lawyering".

A recent client said: "your integrity, professionalism and focus on client care can cost little but count for an enormous amount, and you in my opinion have those in abundance.”

Another said: “Thank you for your caring and considered attitude towards my current situation, it's hugely appreciated.”

What else should you know?

I am an experienced Senior Associate, having qualified in 2012.  I am a parent myself and can empathise with the issues parents face trying to resolve arrangements for their children on separation, as well as struggles around having a child.

My reported cases include A, B and Bourn Hall Clinic [2021] and KMM v NAM (Jurisdiction) [2021].
