What can I help you with?

I’ve been supporting people facing separation and divorce for over 40 years.  I now focus mainly on my work as a financial arbitrator as well as on various projects and initiatives for the national family law team at Mills & Reeve. 

Examples of some recent work

My work has been varied, often involving complex issues and an international element. Examples include

  • Advising a high profile father in a Court of Appeal hearing which confirmed the original judge’s decision to transfer primary care of his 3 year old autistic son to him in Canada.
  • Representing family justice organisation Resolution pro bono in the Supreme Court in the landmark divorce case of Owens which was an important factor in the Government introducing legislation for no fault divorce.
  • Divorce proceedings involving many millions of pounds where a financial settlement was negotiated and agreed without contested court proceedings.

What else should you know?

As well as being a financial arbitrator I'm a qualified collaborative practitioner. I’m the only person to have been national chair of Resolution twice and in 2019 was given honorary life membership of the organisation in recognition of my contribution and in particular my campaigning for no fault divorce. I remain on Resolution's national committee (Board).

I am a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL).

I was awarded the Cornwell Award for Outstanding Contribution to Family Law in the prestigious Family Law Awards 2019.
