Sue Brookes

What can I help you with?

As a solicitor and mediator, I help clients going through separation and divorce. I can advise, negotiate, litigate or mediate – whatever is most appropriate for the individual family. My work involves arrangements for children and financial settlements, including property claims for unmarried couples. It also includes wealth protection through cohabitation agreements and pre and post-nuptial agreements.

Example(s) of some recent work

I have helped clients in cases involving complex pensions, family businesses (ranging from sole traders up to multi-million pound businesses) and trusts. I have negotiated a complex child maintenance agreement achieving an outcome for the client that would not usually have been ordered by the court. I have prepared an urgent international pre-nuptial agreement, liaising with lawyers in several other jurisdictions. I have mediated for couples on their child arrangements and their financial settlements, to help them to avoid court. I have also litigated in a heavily contested financial remedy application and advised on property disputes for unmarried couples.

What do others say about me?

“Sue was everything a matrimonial lawyer should be. She was able to take the heat out of a hugely distressing situation and provided a very personal, responsive service grounded on knowledgeable, sensitive and jargon-free advice. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.”

“Sue is very smart, direct and likeable. She has good judgment.”

What else should you know?

I work increasingly with unmarried couples and have been heavily involved in setting up our award winning website which is the first website dedicated specifically to helping couples who live together. You can visit the website by clicking here.
